What better way to begin a Sunday than by scrolling through Twitter with a hot cup of coffee? After scrolling through pictures of awesome cosplay, grueling political posts, and weird anime GIFs, my gaze landed on the gold mine of anime news: the second season of One-Punch Man will premiere in April 2019.
The teaser trailer and key visual went live this morning on YouTube and social media platforms. Luckily, a synopsis for season 2 and the cast list were also included. Check it out:
Saitama is a hero who only became a hero for fun. After three years of “special training,” he’s become so strong that he’s practically invincible. In fact, he’s too strong—even his mightiest opponents are taken out with a single punch. Now, the great seer Madame Shibabawa’s prediction about the Earth being doomed seems to be coming true as the frequency of monster incidents escalates. Alongside Genos, his faithful disciple, Saitama begins his official hero duties as a member of the Hero Association, while Garou, a man utterly fascinated by monsters, makes his appearance.
Makoto Furukawa (Saitama) and Kaito Ishikawa (Genos) will be reprising their original roles from season one, and it was announced earlier this year that Hikaru Midorikawa (Fate/Zero) would be the supposed main villain Garou. Despite the official news about Midorikawa’s participation in the series, rumors have cycled for the past month or so concerning the shows release date. Thankfully, we’re getting season two much earlier than anticipated!
There has been no official word on whether One-Punch Man will be available in simulcast as of yet, but here’s to hoping! For those of you new to the world of the uncharacteristically bored superhero known asOne-Punch Man, the strongest man in the world, the complete first season is available for streaming on Netflix and Hulu!
Looking forward to the second season of One-Punch Man? I know I am!
