In an announcement made earlier today, Netflix has confirmed that the newest animated series from Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama, Disenchantment, will be returning for a second season. A teaser trailer released earlier this morning disclosed that new episodes will release in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
Unfortunately, the vague release windows are about all we know at the moment. The second half of season one is set to finish up next year; similarly, the second season will be split into two parts, premiering in 2020 and 2021. Netflix has ordered 20 more episodes of Disenchantment, but there has yet to be any official announcement on how the series will continue. Groening gave audiences a small snippet of what to expect, “We’re excited to continue this epic journey with Netflix…Stay tuned for more cranked-up suspense, infuriating plot twists, and beloved characters getting knocked off.”
Disenchantment takes place in the medieval kingdom of Dreamland, and our often intoxicated friend, Bean, is its princess. With her green companion, Elfo, and her personal demon, Luci, drunken escapades ensue as she does her best to avoid ruling her kingdom.
The full first season of Disenchantment is now available on Netflix!
