After ten months in Early Access, Sweet Bandit Studios’ bean brawler, Coffence, launched on Steam. It’s the perfect game for the artisanal brewer, the pour-over drip snob or just your run-of-the-mill caffeine addict. Have you ever had too many cups of joe and felt that the only way to calm yourself down was to bash your neighbor’s face in with a ceramic mug? Live that dream in Coffence, available right now for only $12.74!
In case you haven’t played it, Coffence is a fighter with a twin-stick shooter control style. There’s a lot of back and forth in the battles, because getting hit by other players spills your coffee into the air for others to take. As you can see in the trailer that released awhile ago, there’s also a single-player campaign, but it looks more fun to play with up to four players in tense, brew-bashing action. Apparently, Coffence will be released on the big three consoles as well, but there’s no info about those releases yet.
The game is admittedly a pretty ridiculous concept when you consider all of the successful fighters on the market, but that’s what sets it apart. If you don’t have the resources to make a solid fighting game, then you have to have your own spin, and Coffence has that by the cup.
